Hello.I am going to osaka on 27 may 2015. I plan to travel to kyoto, kobe and nara. What type of jr pass should i buy.thank you for your respond
what type of jr pass to buy
Hi,
In general, find out where to buy a japan rail pass for intercity travel like Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
If you are only staying in the Kansai area (Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kobe), a JR Pass would not be cost effective. You might find some savings in a JR Kansai Area Pass or a JR Kansai Wide Area Pass.
Good luck.
Hello there,
Traveling in Kansai, the area where, Kyoto, Kobe and Nara are located is not very expansive. Generally I would advise buying normal tickets as this is in most cases the cheaper option. For instance the Kansai Pass requires at least 2,300yen worth of travel a day. You'd have to do a good amount of travel, to break even.
In comparison, a one way ticket Kyoto - Nara is ¥ 710 and Kyoto - Kobe is ¥ 1,080.
A 7 day JR Pass can be useful if you come from Tokyo, visit Kansai and to Tokyo after.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Hi,
Nevertheless if i do have a JR pass already and ill be coming from Tokyo to
Osaka, can i use such around, osaka, kyoto or kobe for that matter?
Yes! Travel is covered between all of the above places.
