The JR Pass is only available for holders of the 'Temporary Visitor' entry status. If you are visiting Japan for tourism you will normally receive this stamp when you enter the country.

    The Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass is a slightly cheaper alternative to the Japan Rail Pass for travelers who want to visit Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and make a stop over in the Hokuriku region, such as at Nagano, Kanazawa or Karuizawa.

    Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass

    What's included?

    • Unlimited travel on the Hokuriku Shinkansen (Tokyo to Kanazawa), using ordinary car reserved seats. This includes the super fast Kagayaki Shinkansen.
    • Travel on limited express trains, and local trains and all Tokyo Monorail lines within the free usage area.
    • Local travel on JR lines in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.

    Limitations and things to keep in mind

    • Travel on the Haruka express to Kansai Airport is included but only non-reserved.
    • The Tokaido Shinkansen is not included, this means that travelers who wish to make a return between Tokyo - Osaka/Kyoto have to travel both ways via the Hokuriku Arch, this adds a significant amount of extra travel time.

    Conditions of use

    • The pass cannot be used at an automatic ticket gate, please show your pass at a manned gate when entering and exiting the train platform area.
    • The pass can be refunded at any station where the pass can be exchanged in Japan, a 10% processing fee applies. Our general refund policy applies for refunds outside of Japan.
    • No refunds or re-issue is possible for a stolen, lost or damaged rail pass.
    • Pass users must carry their passport with them and show their passport upon request by JR Staff.
    • No compensation is given in the case of cancelled or delayed trains for whatever reason.
    • The pass is counted in days from midnight to midnight (as opposite to periods of 24 hours), the first day of use is counted as a full day, no matter what time you start using it.
