What is the Japan Internet SIM?
The Japan travel SIM by JRPass.com is a truly unlimited data SIM card meant for travel all across Japan. We care about giving the best, most convenient and worry free experience and therefore made the first and only SIM card for Japan travel that has no data cap, no extra costs and is easy to install. Basically, pop it in your mobile phone as soon as you arrive in Japan and stay connected at all times, without having to worry about running out of data.
How does an Internet SIM work in Japan
The process is simple, order your SIM card with your JR Pass. Once you arrive in Japan put the SIM in your SIM tray and restart your phone. Select the SIM as the source for your mobile data connection and that’s all, enjoy streaming and surfing anywhere.
The SIM connects automatically, so there is no need for any further configuration, APN settings or similar. The SIM will activate itself as soon as it connects to the network and will deactivate once the usage period is.
What are the requirements?
Using a physical SIM, your mobile phone will need to be unlocked and have a SIM tray slot free. The SIM works both on Android, iPhone, iPad and any other device that has a 4g or 5g connection option.
How do I install the SIM
- Turn off your phone.
- Find the SIM tray (usually on the side or under the back cover).
- Use a SIM tool or paperclip to open it.
- Put the SIM card in (match the shape).
- Close the tray or cover.
- Turn your phone back on.

Does the SIM come with a phone number and can I make calls?
The SIM is data only, meaning it does not have a phone number attached to it. You can still make calls using services like WhatsApp, Line or Voip Apps.
Can I use the SIM if my phone does not have a SIM tray?

Does the SIM have a Fair Use Policy?
When we mean unlimited data, we truly mean unlimited data. You can browse, stream and enjoy the internet without limit. However, keep in mind that we may still limit your SIM in case of malicious activity.
What is the speed?
The SIM comes with 5G connectivity, the actual ground speed depends on many factors. Including type of phone, modem, and network conditions. Typically this is around 150-200 Mbps.
What is the cancellation / return policy?
SIMs are activated directly with the JR Pass shipment, as such we are unable to offer cancellations or refunds. We do offer a full refund in case of technical or delivery issues.
Can I share my data / use tethering / create personal hotspot?
Yes, this is no problem.
