Dear Daniel-san,

We (2 people) will have a trip to Japan from 29th Apr to 10th May.

We will arrive Chitose Airport in Sapporo on the 30th of Apr.

Our plan is: 3 days in Sapporo, from 30th Apr to 2nd May, then on 2nd May morning we will head to Hiroshima for around 1 days, then from Hiroshima to Kyoto and spend 2-3 days there, and the last 3 days in Tokyo before going home (from Narita Airport)

We intend to use JR Pass to save transportation cost. But I see that the route between Sapporo and Hiroshima will be very long and includes many stops. Plus that this is our first time to Japan.

So could you please have a look at our travel plan and advise whether it is possible or this will be an exhausted journey. Could you please also advise us to use the JR Pass for the route between Sapporo and Hiroshima. How long in total this will take?

Many thanks and hope to hear from you,

Ha

Dear Ha Ngo,

The route Sapporo - Hiroshima is basically two routes. Namely Sapporo - Tokyo (500 Minutes) and Tokyo - Hiroshima (300 minutes). All together that's a full day of travel. The good news is that there are many beautiful stops on the way. Going down from Sapporo - Hakodate - Hirosaki - Sendai - Tokyo - Fuji - Nagoya - Kyoto - Osaka - Kobe - Himeji and Hiroshima.

So there's plenty to see and to on the route. My advise would be read up a little on each city and see what you like best. You could then add a couple of stops where ever you may like.

The JR Pass covers the full route and you'll make amazing savings.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your reply.

I bought already the JR Pass 7 days to travel through Japan (Sapporo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Tokyo)

After the pass expired, we still have 3 days to explore Tokyo before going home

Could you please advise which kind of transportation I should use in Tokyo for the most saving?

Thanks Daniel,

Ha

Hi Ha,

It really depends what you'll do in Tokyo.

Buying day passes for the Tokyo Metro can be a good deal if you do a lot of sightseeing.
