Right Pass

My husband and I are travelling to Japan for 3 weeks but will be using rail travel for 1 week.

We plan to transit from Osaka to Kyoto on day 1. Day 2 and 3 we plan to explore the Kyoto area. Day 4 we will transit to Hiroshima. Day 5 and 6 we will explore Hiroshima area. Day 7 we plan to transit to Tokyo from Hiroshima.

Is the most cost effective/easiest pass the 7 day General pass or is there an alternative to this pass?

We would also be using some trams/buses within the areas too.
