Kitaca + extra ticket for Reserved Seat?

Hi JRsan,

I will be traveling from Airport New Chitose bij train to Sapporo JR Station.

My idea was to buy a Kitaca card from the Ticket Machine and with that pass the traingates.

However I am not sure how I can board the "reserved seat" section?

Do I have to buy an extra "reserved seat ticket" also at the Ticket Machine?

(or is there normally enough unreserved free seating - I will be arriving May 9th)

Please advise,

Thank you very much

Hi there,

If you want to board the reserved section of a train you'll need to have made a reservation at either a machine or a travel desk. Otherwise, you can book a ticket for the unreserved area - either way you'll still have to make a ticket booking.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
