Hi!!
My wife and I are very excited for our trip to Japan!
Here's the draft of our itinerary and we have 2 specific questions and some questions about our itineray.

  1. Is our best option to buy national JR Pass (we think so) or should we better buy regional passes?
  2. Would you recommed to buy regional passes for certain cities or areas? Or would it be better to move around local buses and trains?

-Day 1. Arriving in Fukuoka and leaving to Hiroshima to spend the day there -Day 2. Spend some time in Hiroshima and head to Miyajima for the Great Torii Gate. Question. Is it easy to depart from here to Himeji the next day or should we go back to Hiroshima? -Day 3. Spend the day in Himeji and head to Kyoto at night. -Day 4. Spend the day in Kyoto. -Day 5. Spend the day in Kyoto -Day 6. spend the morning in Kyoto and head to Nara. Spend the afternoon in Nara and head to Hakone at night. Question. for this 3 days in the Kyoto-Nara region. Is it worth to buy a regional pass or should we better get around with local transportation options? -Day 7. Spend the day in the Mont Fuji area -Day 8. Spend the day in the Mont Fuji area and head to Tokyo at night. Question. Should we buy a pass to move around here or do we use the local transportation options? -Day 9. Spend the day in Tokyo -Day 10. Spend the day in Tokyo -Day 11. Day trip to Nikko -Day 12. Last day in Tokyo

Thank you in advance for your answer!

Hi there,

I reviewed your itinerary and would suggest using a 7 day JR Pass from day 2 to day 8. This is the period that you're covering the most distance and thus the most travel costs. You can then look at using normal tickets for travel around Tokyo, or buy a Tokyo Wide Pass travel locally for access to Fuji and Nikko.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Just one more question.
Where could I buy the Tokyo Wide Pass around the Mont Fuji area?

Yup! Travel to/from Kawaguchiko is included.

Daniel, hello!
A quick question, since I'm already travelling around Asia, could I order my pass and NOT receive it via fedex but pick it up as soon as I arrive in Japan?
