Hi. I'd love some feedback on my planned itinerary. We are planning to include a week of skiing (just renting equipment as we don't want to drag it all over). Was thinking of getting the 21 day JR Pass. Annoyingly we are staying just over the 21 days, so will have to pay for the trip back to Narita.

Day Weekday Schedule
1 Sunday Arrive Tokyo in the morning
2 Monday Tokyo
3 Tuesday Nagano (travel to Nozawa in evening)
4 Wednesday Nozawa skiing
5 Thursday Nozawa skiing
6 Friday Nozawa skiing
7 Saturday Myoko skiing
8 Sunday Myoko skiing
9 Monday Myoko skiing
10 Tuesday Kanasawa
11 Wednesday Kanasawa (or somewhere else like Shirakawa/Takayama?)
12 Thursday Kyoto
13 Friday Kyoto
14 Saturday Kyoto (day trip to Nara?)
15 Sunday Hiroshima (stop at Hijema on the way)
16 Monday Hiroshima and Miyajima
17 Tuesday Osaka
18 Wednesday Osaka
19 Thursday Tokyo
20 Friday Enoshima / Kamakura? Somewhere to see Mt Fuji?
21 Saturday Tokyo
22 Sunday Tokyo
23 Monday Hotel at Narita and fly home in the morning

Does the JR Pass cover all of this travel? Also to Myokokogen, Enoshima and Kamakura?

Thank you.

Hi there,

The JR Pass will cover travel to all the cities you wish to visit. You may still need local transport at times. For instance, going to Myokokogen, the JR Pass covers the Shinkansen to Nagano but from there you will need to use a bus or private railway line to the resort. Same for Enoshima, you can use the JR Pass up to Fujisawa station from there the last mile will have to be traveled on a non-JR line. These, however, are very small trips compared to all your other travel. Kamakura can be reached by JR.

I would recommend a visit to Takayama if you have some time in Kanazawa.

Your trip looks great btw!
Daniel
