Just want to check any train from Osaka to Sapporo using JR pass. We plan to take 14days pass.
Itenary as below:
28dec to 31st dec stay at Osaka
31st Dec evening travel to Sapporo(please advice what time we should take the train).
1st Jan to 4th Jan stay at Sapporo
4th Jan travel to tokyo
5th to 9th Jan stay at Tokyo
9th travel to Osaka

Hi there,
I would start as early as possible if you plan to travel from Osaka to Sapporo. The trip is around 11 hours of rail travel. I would try to catch a train around 6-7, so you will arrive around dinner time in Sapporo.
The route looks as follows:
Take a Hikari service from Shin-Osaka station to Tokyo. At Tokyo, transfer to the Hayabusa Shinkansen to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station. At Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, take a limited express train to Sapporo.
The route is fully covered by the JR Pass.
