Hello!

My husband and I are visiting Japan from the 7th to the 17th of March. We are staying in Tokyo for 3 nights, off to Osaka for 2 nights, Kyoto for 1 night and back to Tokyo. We are also planning on visiting Yokohama for the Gundam Museum, the Kobe Zoo and Hiroshima for a day trip.

I was just wondering what is the best JR rail pass would be best for us to get. Is it best to purchase say the full Japan pass or get the Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku pass and booking separate tickets to get to Hiroshima, Kobe and Yokohama? We know we're covering a lot of ground in a short period of time but want to make the most of our time there.

Many thanks!

Hi there,

I would recommend purchasing a Kansai-Hiroshima Pass, and then purchasing your Shinkansen tickets from Kyoto to Tokyo separately. That way, you don't have to take the longer route via Hokuriku Arch and can still save money during your time in the Kansai region.

More info on the pass can be found here.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
