Hi there, I am just putting together my itinery for a rail pass trip, could you help me out with deciding if the 7 or 14 day pass is cheaper? Thank you.

Here is my itinerary:

February:

18 - Arrive in Tokyo Narita and chill, see some of the modern city.
19 - Tokyo city (traditional areas)
20 - Day trip to Nagano to see the snow monkeys
21 - Travel to Hakone and stay the night
22 - Travel to Kyoto
23 - Kyoto
24 - Nara day trip from Kyoto
25 - Kyoto
26 - Osaka day trip from Kyoto
27 - Travel to Mt Koya- stay the night
28 - Travel to Hiroshima from Koya
1 - Trip to Mijajima from Hiroshima
2- Train to Tokyo Hiroshima
3- Tokyo to airport

Also, any other feedback on order would be great, obviously I have left out most of the detail for simplicity sake.

Thanks!

Hello there,

It is an easy match, a 14 day JR Pass is perfectly suited for your trip. You'll be traveling nearly daily and the JR Pass will give you very good savings compared to purchasing normal rail tickets. Nearly everything is covered but there are some trips that will require additional transport, think of travel to see the snow monkies and between Osaka and Mt. Koya.

For travel times, I recommend learning to plan with Hyperdia this way you can find any route/timetable and more. It's a great tool for planning with the JR Pass. We also have a useful interactive map with all JR lines included.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thank you so much.

Do you think the trip sounds too busy? Or would you say it is doable. I was also wondering whether you think it is posible to Visit Himeji on the way to Miyajima?
