We will be in Japan from 3/23-4/1. We are planning on ordering the 7 Day pass to be to activated 3/26-4/1. I wanted to check that we could use the pass for the following trips:

Tokyo-Kyoto
Kyoto-Tokyo
Tokyo-Kawaguchiko
Kawaguchiko-Tokyo
Tokyo-Haneda Airport

Are all of those trips covered or mostly covered by the japan rail pass?

Hi there,

In terms of distance and travel costs, the JR Pass will cover around 96% of your travel. The only part where an extra fare is required is to and from Kawaguchiko, as part of the route between Otsuki station and Kawaguchiko is traveled on the Fujikyu railway, a 3rd sector railway company. The fare will be 1,140 for this part. For details see: http://www.jrpass.com/blogs/itinerary-tip-mt-fuji

All in all this is a minor part of your itinerary!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
