JR East Pass Nagano Niigata

Hi Daniel-San,

Please advise if the following itinerary for Tue 31 Oct - Sat 4 Nov 2023 is covered by JR East Pass Nagano Niigata.

Day 1 Tokyo - Matsumoto by JR Azusa

Day 2 Matsumoto - Kamikochi - Matsumoto

Day 3 Matsumoto - Nagano - Takasaki - Niigata - Takasaki - Nagano by JR East Line, Hokuriku Shinkansen and Joetsu Shinkansen (we love trains :-) so this day is planned to maximize the train rides)

Day 4 Nagano - Bessho Onsen by JR East Line

Day 5 Bessho Onsen - Karuizawa - Tokyo by JR East Line and Hokuriku Shinkansen (and Joetsu Shinkansen if we like it better than Hokuriku Shinkansen)

Also, does seat reservation required for any of those train rides?

Hi there,

The Kagayaki Shinkansen, on the Hokuriku/Nagano Shinkansen line is a train that has reserved seat only. All other trains on this route have non-reserved seats.

I believe your entire trip would be covered, but please note that we do not sell this pass at the moment on JR Pass.com, so I can't give official support for it.
