Hello, two of us (adults) are planning on traveling by train on the following dates. What kind of passes should we buy -- 7-day JR pass, or regional passes (and which ones)?
4/10 Tokyo to Hiroshima
4/12 Hiroshima to Shin-Osaka
4/13 Osaka to Kyoto
4/16 Kyoto to Tokyo

I'm happy to help! The most convenient choice would be the 7-day JR Pass, as it covers your entire itinerary including the Miyajima ferry and the sightseeing bus in Hiroshima. However, if you are looking for the most cost-effective route, purchasing individual tickets would likely be the cheaper option.
If you would like to combine a regional pass with individual tickets, I would highly recommend the 5-day Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass. It offers excellent value for the middle portion of your trip.
