Hi there!

I was hoping you could provide some information on which JR Pass we should buy. (The Full 7-day pass or the Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass)

Here is our tentative itinerary with the city we are planning to spend time in.

March 3 Arrive at NRT, Tokyo
March 4 Tokyo
March 5 Tokyo
March 6 Tokyo
March 7 Osaka (Will stay at a hotel here and commute to and from Kyoto and Nara the next 2 days)
March 8 Kyoto
March 9 Nara
March 10 Tokyo
March 11 Depart from NRT

Also, is it even feasible to do 1 day in Kyoto and 1 day in Nara?
Thanks!

Hi there,

In general I'd advise using a 7 day JR Pass. You can also use a Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass but it adds a considerable amount of travel time going via Kanazawa and the price difference is not too big. Still you could save a bit of money using the Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass and Kanazawa is a nice stop over :)

Either pass would cover your itinerary. 1 Day in Kyoto is indeed short. It is possible but more time would certainly be nice!

Hope this helps,
Daniel
