Hi,
My wife and I are coming to Japan for our honeymoon at the start of April.
We fly into Osaka Kansai, from which we want to go straight to Kyoto for 3 nights, then on to Hakone for one night then on to Tokyo, then home via Osaka Kansai.
We're interested in getting the rail pass, but would this be cost effective, and can you advise on timetables? As you can see we are very short on time to get so much in so we need to be on top of the timetables.
We arrive at 1705 on Saturday April 1, from which we want to get to Kyoto as quickly as possible.
We are doing 3 nights in Kyoto ((1,2,3 April)and then (probably) on to Hakone to stay in a luxury Ryokan for just one night (4 April)- as you know this will not be cheap and so we're keen to make the most of it by getting there as early as possible (within reason).
From there we will head to Tokyo for at least two nights (5, 6 April) and then we need to be back to Kansai for an 0930 flight (8 April) - so at the airport for 0730, on Saturday morning. We need to figure out where to stay on the 7th. Is this reachable from Tokyo by train t that time of the morning? I assume not, if not, is it reachable from Kyoto at that time in the morning, or do I need to be in Osaka / at the airport over night?
If I can confirm that this trip makes sense, and is doable all on the railcard then we will certainly want to purchase one each.
Thanks
Pete
