Hi Team,

Below is my itinerary for the 2 weeks that myself, my wife and my 4 year old son are travelling in Japan from Sep 26 to Oct 12.
Day 1-5: Tokyo
Day 6-9: Kyoto
Day 10-13: Osaka
Day 14-16: Tokyo for return.

Please suggest the pass we should be taking to ensure that we travel to the mentioned places and also get to use the train/metro network for internal movement too.

Thanks,

Azeez

Hi Azeez,

Based on your itinerary, the most cost-effective option for you would be to use a combination of individual train tickets and a regional pass.

For your long-distance journeys from Tokyo to Kyoto and from Osaka back to Tokyo, individual Shinkansen tickets will be more economical than a Nationwide JR Pass. For your travel within the Kansai area (between Kyoto and Osaka), you may find the Kansai Area Pass to be very convenient. For local travel within the cities, we recommend using an IC card like Welcome Suica.

I hope this helps you plan your family trip!

Kind Regards,

Mariko
