To buy or not to buy

Hi! Hope you can help me work out if I should buy a JR pass or not for the following itinerary. My husband and I will arrive in New Chitose Airport on 2 June 2017 at 1pm. We plan to stay in Sapporo for 4 nights, then 3 nights in Hakodate and finally 3 nights in Tokyo (flying home from Haneda on 12 June). We would like to take day trips to Otaru and Furano / Biei on the 2 days we are in Sapporo.
Would you advise us to buy a 7-day JR pass or the flexible JR East - South Hokkaido pass or just individual tickets to cover both Hokkaido as well as the Shinkansen to Tokyo? I think for our day trips, taking buses instead of train would be possible too?
Thank you for your help.

Hi there,

A 7 day JR Pass would be a good option if you can use it for your day trips and travel to Tokyo. As the JR East - South Hokkaido can not be used to Furano/Biei.

You can use any Shinkansen to Tokyo, including the super fast Hayabusa hinkansen.

I'm not sure what buses you want to take but generally tour buses are not included in either pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi
Thank you for your reply.
Is it possible to do a day tour of both Biei and Furano sights (especially the flowers) on one day starting from Sapporo?
