hi guys,

can i ask some questions?
1. my itinerary is tokyo - osaka - kyoto and shirakawago, what is the best pass that i can use? (price and effectiveness)
im travelling with my wife and 1 kid ( 3years).

  1. is shirakawago still cover with snow on early feb?

  2. i read some article that from kanazawa - shirakawago need to take bus that not covered by jr pass, is it true?

Hi there,

1.) I think that the best option here would be to use a 7 day JR Pass. This is the only pass that covers the full area you travel in and will give you good savings compared to purchasing normal rail tickets.

2.) Shirakawa-go will likely still have a lot of snow at the start of Feb, last year it started melting mid March. The bus to Shirakawago from either Takayama or Kanazawa is not covered by the JR Pass, as it is operated by NoHi Bus, a different company than JR.
