Could you check to see if my itinerary is sound? I will be going from Tokyo to Kyoto, and then from Kyoto to Osaka, and then from Osaka to Himeji Castle, and then to Okayama, and back to Osaka, and lastly from Osaka to Kansai Airport. All within six days. Would the JR pass get me thru all these location and is it worth it? Do I have to reserve seats (5 in our group) in advance or can I just show JRPass at station and get available seating?

Thank you

Duc

Hello Duc,

The JR Pass will cover travel to all these places. In terms of value, your travel will cost about the same as a 7 day JR Pass. The exact cost of tickets would depend on what trains used but I do think the JR Pass is a good option if you also considered travel to/from the airports. The Pass is also your one ticket for all your travel in Japan. You can just show it and hop on the train. At the same time, you can also make seat reservations for free to be secure of seating. Traveling in the weekend, I would recommend getting seat reservations. Even if it is just a day in advance.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
