Hi,

Would like to ask that does the JR Pass covers the trip from Tokyo to Sapporo? I've read that the trip takes about 8 hours one way right?

Also, is the sleeper train still running and available? I've read somewhere that it got discontinued. If the train is available, how do I reserve the train? The JR pass only cover the nobi-nobi seats right?

Thank you for reading this message and a reply would be extremely helpful!

Hi there,

Yes, the JR Pass covers the full route to Sapporo, including the Hayabusa Shinkansen between Tokyo and Hakodate.

There are however no sleeper trains any more going to Hokkaido. Some people add a stop over in Aomori or Hakodate to split of the amount of travel.

The full route is a little over 7 hours, including transfer time.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
