Hi there
So we are coming to Japan and hoping to do the following:
31 March - arrive Tokyo then 4 days sighteseeing here - travelling by tube
4th April - travel to Kyoto
6th April - travel to Osaka
8th April - back to Tokyo with a day trip on the 9th to FujiQ Highland

We are a family of 5 - 2 adults and children aged 14,12,and 9

We were thinking of buying the JR pass but not sure whether it would be better to do everything individually?

All the best
Alex

Hi there,

The JR Pass covers all of your itinerary via the Shinkansen bullet trains. It may be more cost-effective to purchase tickets individually, but your entire itinerary is covered (plus basic metro travel on the JR Yamanote in Tokyo and the Osaka Loop) and so it's an option worth considering if you feel that a pass is better suited to you.

Hope this helps!

Alexis
