Hi
I would like to buy a JR pass as I have noted its convenience during travel to Japan by many travellers. Its my first trip to Japan on free and easy style and I hope I survive the trip. I will be landing at Nagoya, (spend 1 nite there) and travel to Kyoto the following day. I will be based in Kyoto for 5 nites and travel around Kyoto or outskirts of Kyoto and also to Nara. Subsequently, I will spend 1 nite in Shizuoka before going to Tokyo (for 2 nites) and return to Singapore from Tokyo. My question is: is it advisable to buy a JR pass with my kind of travel itinerary? I wonder whether there be any cost savings on my part if I buy the pass and would it be better for me to buy at the station itself? I sincerely look forward to your kind assistance.

Hi there,
I checked your route, but you would not be making savings here I'm afraid. Instead, you could look at buying normal rail tickets for this trip.
Kind regards,
Daniel
