Hi there, we are travelling early May. Would like to get from Narita Airport to Tokyo then the following day Tokyo to Fukushima. After 5 nights in Fukushima - return to Tokyo. Then after 4 nights in Tokyo we are going to Kyoto and Osaka then up to Ueno and then back to Narita. It ends up being 15 days. Are we best to get a 14 day National pass and then a single trip on the last day to get us from Ueno to Narita?
JR Pass or Regional Pass
Hi there,
Based on your itinerary, a 14-day Nationwide JR Pass would be your best option. To maximise its value, I would suggest activating the pass on Day 2, when you depart Tokyo for Fukushima.
This ensures that all your major long-distance legs including the return from Fukushima, your trip to Kyoto and Osaka, and the journey back up to Ueno are fully covered. For your first day, you can simply purchase an individual ticket for the journey from Narita Airport to Tokyo.
You can activate your JR Pass and set your start date immediately upon arrival at the airport, or alternatively, at any major JR station in Tokyo before you depart for Fukushima.
I hope this helps!
Kind Regards,
Mariko
