Hi

Im travelling for 3 weeks in Japan and wondering if I should get a whole country or a regional rail pass. I will need to reach Naoshima island which is near Shin-Kurashiki. Otherwise, I will visit Kyoto and surrounds-Osaka-Hokkaido and perhaps others destination in the same region. (I think they are all in the south..?). Do I need a regional 3 week pass or a whole country pass? thanks in advance

Hi there,

It's hard to say for sure without knowing your day by day travel plans, having said that I can see you will to travel across Japan with places like Osaka and Hokkaido, these typically involve a lot of travel.

If that is the plan, then the JR Pass is by far your best option as it gives you the complete freedom to explore Japan by any JR line.

I can help you better if you share your itinerary.

Kind regards,
Daniel
