Me and my wife are travelling to japan in may 27, we are staying for 20 days and will explore 2 regional passes.
Do we need to reserve seats? If so how can we do it?

Hi there,
Yes, you'll need to reserve seats for the trains you board. This can be done either at a manned JR ticket office, or a ticket machine, which can both be found in JR-operated stations. More info on this can be found here.
