Traveling to Japan from the US in October 2024 (Shikoku, Hiroshima, Beppu, Ube & Himeji) for 28 days. Planning to get a 21 day JR pass and plan to use it for the last part of our trip. Does this sound like a good plan? Buying a 21 day & 7 day pass does not seem worth it. Thanks!

Hi there,
That is likely what I would do. Local travel within cities is not that high cost, and here you would not need a JR Pass. I assume that at the start and/or end of your trip, you may have a few days in a big city like Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka?
Alternatively, you could look at one of the JR Regional passes.
Kind regards,
Daniel
