Hi there,

If I have a JR Pass and don't have a seat reservation is it just possible to get on a train without any other kind of ticket? Or do I need to reserve a space on a particular train?

Thanks
Nicola

Hi Nicola,

You can take a non-reserved seat and just hop on the train or reserve a seat for free with the JR Pass. The choice is yours.

There are a few trains that have reserved seats only, these are the Narita Express, Hayabusa and Kagayaki Shinkansen.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
