I will be traveling in Japan from December 23 to January 7. I plan to use my JR Pass starting December 27 for my trip from Sapporo to Tokyo. May I reserve my ticket in advance on December 26 for travel on the 27th? Will the pass activation begin on December 27 as long as the actual journey is on that date? Thank you.

Hi there,
You can exchange your voucher for the physical JR Pass any time after arriving in Japan. When you exchange the voucher, you can set the activation date for your JR Pass to be December 27th. Once you have the physical pass, you can reserve your seat immediately for your journey on the 27th.
