Hi would love your opinion on JR pass for my upcoming trip. I am thinking of getting a 7 day JR pass thinking that I won’t really need it whilst I am in Tokyo here is my trip
25th -29th Tokyo
29th - 31st Kobe
31st - 2nd Osaka
2nd 4th Kyoto
4th - 5th Tokyo
Home
We will do various day trips to Nara etc along the way.
Do you think a 7 day Pass is the way to go.
Thanks so much in advance

Hi there,

Yes, the 7-day JR Pass is worth it. The cost of the pass is similar in price to a return ticket Tokyo - Osaka. So, any further travel you do with it is basically free ^^

Kind regards,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel, Would you recommend I just use a Saico card whilst in Tokyo at the beginning of our trip and then use the JR pass once we leave Tokyo seeing as we are only purchasing a 7 day pass , would this be the best way to go?.
Thanks so much.

Hi Di,

Yes, that is a good idea. With Suica you can get anywhere easily, it does not provide a discount, but the convenience factor is very high.

Then the JR Pass to cover your (otherwise) costly intercity travel.
