Hi,
My family has two adults and a 14 year old. We are in Japan for a week but will mostly be in Tokyo (flying to Haneda). We plan to go to Nikko for two nights - one in an Onsen hotel that seems to only be accessible by bus or car. Maybe a JR two week pass is not worth it?

Hi there,
That's correct, I usually advice a JR Pass if you'd do some intercity travel using the Bullet trains. Think of travel between Tokyo, Hokkaido, Kyoto, Osaka and/or Hiroshima.
Hope this helps!
