Hi
We are arriving in March 2026 at Tokyo. Spending 5 days there using local trains, then train to Nagoya for the Formula 1 event over 4 days.
Then traveling from Nagoya to Osaka for 3 days and then Osaka to Tokyo for 2 days before flying home.

Question:
Is the Pass worth our selected trips?
Can it be used for the ‘Suzuka Grand Prix’ limited express?
If yes, how do we pre book the Grand Prix express as I'm told it sells out fast.

Hi there,

Given your itinerary and the duration of your stays in each location, a Nationwide JR Pass is unlikely to be the most cost-effective option for you.

For your travel, you could use individual train tickets for long-distance journeys and IC cards (like Welcome Suica) for local city travel. You might also consider regional passes such as the Kansai Area Pass or the Kansai Wide Area Pass.

The train tickets for the "Suzuka Grand Prix" Limited Express can usually be booked once you arrive in Japan at JR stations. Please be aware that the JR Pass only covers parts of this specific service.

We hope this helps you plan your trip!

Kind Regards,

Mariko
