I notice that there are some nighttrains in Japan, operating by JR. Since we are travelling around I would like to know is there a nighttrain including in the JR Rail Pass? And if so, do we need to make a reservation for that train, how long in advance is that possible?
Hi there,
The only night train left in Japan is the Sunrise express, running to Izumo and Takamatsu. Basic seats on this train are free with the JR Pass.
Reservations are required, and availability opens 1 month before departure.
