Hello!
I was wondering if we should get JR passes for a 9 day trip. We arrive in the afternoon of Feb 10 and will be going to Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka then back again to Tokyo and departing early evening of Feb 18.
Would it be better to get a Hokuriku arch pass? We’re hoping to use Shinkansen to save time since we’re hitting a lot of spots in such a short amount of time.

Hi there,

I would recommend a 7-day Nationwide JR Pass for your itinerary.

The Hokuriku Arch Pass is another option that covers your itinerary. However, please note that this pass requires you to travel via Kanazawa, which would take approximately 5 hours from Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station. In comparison, the Shinkansen ride from Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station with the Nationwide JR Pass takes only about 2.5 hours.

I hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

Mariko
