Hi there, I will be following the above itinerary as a family o 4 (2 teenagers).
1. Is purchasing a JR pass with it?
2. Will a JR pass cover travel locally to visit tourist attractions within each city, or do I need to supplement with some other card to be able to access transportation in the various cities? If so, what type of card/pass should I get and is it different for each city I will be visiting?
3. I will be spending 3 days in Tokyo at the beginning of my trip and 2 days at the end. Am I better off buying a local transit pass in tokyo and saving buying a one week JR pass to cover travel from Tokyo to the other destinations?
Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kyoto, Nara, tokyo

Hi there,
1.) A 7-day JR Pass is worth it if you complete travel between the major cities within the 7 day validity period.
2.) The JR Pass also includes travel on local JR lines, but not other transport such as the metro. Whether you may have additional fees, will completely depend on where you want to do. In general, we highly advise getting an IC card for travel within cities.
3.) Yes.
Kind regards,
Daniel
