Me and my wife are planning to visit Tokyo between 23rd August and 3rd September (flying into Narita with KLM) and most of our travel would be within Tokyo itself
However I am really interested in visiting Hiroshima for the day and I was wondering whether it would make sense to purchase x2 JR Passes or to just buy the individual tickets there

A one way trip Tokyo - Hiroshima is ¥ 18,560 or ¥ 37,120 for a return. The 7 day JR Pass is ¥ 29,110 making it an easy choice. You can also use the JR Pass for local travel within Tokyo and also from travel to Narita Airport making it well worth your money.
