JR pass worth my trip?

Hi I have tried using some of the apps online to figure out if the JR pass is worth it. I have been reading Reddit forms and I am getting mixed information. Some say its worth it, while other say its not. I have a headache from reading and trying to figure this out. Can someone help me with my itinerary?

7 day Pass

Narita - Shibuya-ku (tokyo)
Shibuya-ku - Osaka
Osaka - Kyoto (day trip so will return back to Osaka)
Osaka to MAYBE kobe for a day trip (so will return back to Osaka)
Osaka - back to Shibuya-ku (tokyo)

I heard that I cant use the fast bullet train to Osaka but the other smaller bullet trains that I can use with the JR pass are just as good.

I am also flying JAL and read on the site I can get the JR pass from them, but how in the world do I do that? Call them?
