Kansai airport to Kyoto

Yes - you can use the JR Pass to get into Kyoto pretty easily. The journey is direct on the Haruka Express and takes just over 1 hour (sample itinerary). You will have to reserve once you get to Japan however there are usually lots of seats on this train so you should have no problems getting a seat.
