Hi - I need help in planning when I should start my itinerary for a 7 day JR pass based on my total days travel in Japan, need help with travel/transportation suggestions?

June 14th - June 18th - Arrival KIX June 14th 20:30 - stay in Osaka
June 18th - June 22nd- take train from OSAKA to Tokyo - start of JR pass?
June 22nd - June 25th - take train from Tokyo to Kyoto
June 25th - Kyoto to OSAKA Kansai airport

  1. If I start June 18th departing to Tokyo - last day of travel on 7 day pass is 24th? Thus, what transportation cost will it cost me to travel (party of 10 parties) to Kansai airport on June 25th?

What options should I consider with this itinerary above??

Thanks so much!

Hi there,

I would indeed recommend using the JR Pass from June 18th, this is the first day that you really cover a good amount of distance and the JR Pass will be effective here.

For your return to Kansai airport, I'd buy a one way ticket at Kyoto station using the Haruka Express train. This would be the easiest option for a party of 10.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
