Is it worthwhile getting on the Holiday Rapid Mt Fuji train or is the Kaiji Ltd Express + Fujkyu better? I'm thinking there's a lot more flexibility with the Kaiji (more trains?)

One more thing that I still don't get... if on the Kaiji it says "Reserved seats" how do I go about reserving seats? Can I do it ahead of time like on the Shinkansen, or should I go to a machine at the station? Sorry... n00b question...

Hi Kiko,

Either way is fine, you can use the Kanji or other trains. I would suggest finding the route that best suites your time table and go with that :)

To make seat reservations, go to a manned JR Desk at a station and tell the staff that you wish to make a seat reservation. They will then print the tickets for you :)
