Family with Different Itineraries

Hello -

My husband and I will be traveling with our two 18 year old sons. We will be together the first day of the trip, then we are headed in different directions for five days before we rejoin each other and stay in Japan another eight days. (Our total trip is 14 days.)

Should we buy our passes together, or separately?

If we bought passes together, would we each be able to access our own individual pass through an app?
