hyperdia and reservation

2.) The JR Pass covers all costs for JR lines and you don't have to pay anything extra for seat reservations.

Does this mean that I have to go to a JR counter for the reservation (when it is marked at Hyperdia) before each ride by train?

You can also take non-reserved seats but reservations make life more convenient.
