Hello,

I would like to ask some question.

Is it compulsory to reserve Shinkansen Bullet Train train or nope?

if i do not reserve jr pass for Shinkansen, can i go to the ticket gate directly with activated japan rail pass? and do i need to acknowledge them where destination i want to go?

I would like to use the Jrpass after 9days arrival in Japan (Tokyo and Kawaguchiko) and can i activate the Jrpass on the 10th day onwards and use it until 16th day?

And can i make activation and reservation both for jrpass at Tokyo Jr East Travel Service Center? or these both process located different location?

Thank

Hi there,

Seat reservations are not required for most trains. You can just hop on board and take a non-reserved seat. However, we do recommend making seat reservations as it secures your seat and you won't have to queue upfront at the station platform.

Yes, you can activate your JR Pass at a later date. So the 10th would be no problem.

Seat reservations can be made at any JR Ticket office.

Kind regards,
Daniel
