We are planning to arrive in Tokyo 3/18, having purchased a JR Hokuriku Arch pass. We want to use the pass to travel on the Shinkansen on 3/21 to Kanazawa and then back from Kanazawa to Narita on 3/26. We will have medium sized suitcases. I understand that I need to make reservations for the Shinkansen trips, but from what I read on this site, it appears I cannot make the reservations until I arrive in Tokyo. Will the Shinkansen trains for 3/21 already be full? Will there still be availability for reservations on 3/21 and 3/26, if I cannot make them until 3/18? Also, must I make special reservations for my luggage? Thank you

Hi there,
Unfortunately, we are unable to check Shinkansen seat availability, but you will be able to do so once you have activated your Hokuriku Arch Pass in Japan. JR ticket offices and machines can assist with this.

I have read that if I purchase my Hokuriko Arch pass via JR West reservation site, I can then make seat reservations a month in advance online, for the Shinkansen which runs between Tokyo and Kanazawa. Even though my pass will not yet be activated. Is this true?
