Hi,
I'll be flying into Tokyo and plan to take Shinkansen to Kyoto on the same day. Can I reserve Shinkansen ticket using JR pass before I arrive in Japan? Or is there a better way?

The best way is to do so in Japan. You can reserve seats at any ticket office.
