Need travel recommendation on New Year

Hi,

I will be leaving Kanazawa on the 1st of Jan. Anyone can recommend me a place to go in the JR EAST region, besides Tokyo? I like those street like shopping areas as well as nature. Thanks :)

Hi there,

Why not head to Nikko or Kawagoe both areas offer a bit of culture in a very beautiful environment.

You could also head up to Sendai which is great for shopping!

I hope this gives you some idea's.
