Sanyo-Sanin Area pass questions

In about a month I will be traveling to Japan.

I am starting in Okinawa and then flying up to Kobe Airpot and going to Hiroshima for the night. Having a night on Miyajima and then back to Hiroshima for a night before moving on to Kyoto with a stop on the way at Himeji.

I believe that the trains should be covered by a JR-West Sanyo-Sanin Area 7 day pass.

It looks like I can get to Shin-Kobe station easily from Kobe airport. Can I pickup the JR-West Sanyo-Sanin pass from Shin-Kobe station?

Do I need to buy this pass online before travel?

Hi there,

Unfortunately you cannot activate the Sanyo-Sanin Area Pass at Shin-Kobe Station. The closest place you can exchange it is likely to be Osaka/Kyoto.

You’ll need to buy the pass online first, where a copy of the exchange order of the pass will be mailed to you that you’ll need to take to the ticket desk of a major JR Station in the area covered by the pass.

Thank you for the help. I hadn't realised there were only some stations where you could exchange the pass.

Do you know if it is Osaka station or Shin-Osaka station that I would be able to make the exchange?
