Is it worth purchasing the JR Pass for one way shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto, round trip from Kyoto to Takayama? Thank you!

Hi there,

The cost of your trip would be as follows:
Tokyo - Kyoto 13,320 yen
Kyoto - Takayama 6,490 yen
Takayama - Kyoto 6,490 yen

For a total of 26,300 yen. The cost of a 7-day JR Pass is 29,650 yen. You'd need to do about 3.350yen worth of travel to break even with a JR Pass. This could be as little as a one way ticket to the airport.
