Shin-Osaka to Nara: how to change train?

Going from Shin-Osaka to Nara. JR train time table shows a need to change train at Tennoji. See below.

Do I stay on the same train at Tennoji?

Another route option shows transfer at Osaka. See below.

OSAKA
[ Arrival track No.6 / Departure track No.1 ]

In this case, do I need to get off the train, walk from track 6 to track 1 and board another train there? Do I have enough time to do that? Timetable shows only 4 minutes to between the arrival and departure.

Hi there,

[ Arrival track No.15 / Departure track No.15 ]

Assuming you're using Hyperdia, if there is an icon that says "Tra", then you must transfer trains even if it is on the same platform. If it is two arrows (like a ffwd button on a music player) then you do not need to transfer trains.

[ Arrival track No.6 / Departure track No.1 ]

As you guessed, for this you will need to get off the train, walk from track 6 to track 1 and board another there. 4 minutes should be just ok for you to transfer if you make sure you don't stop for food/drinks. If you do miss it, then you should still be ok - depending on time of day there should be another train within 15-20 mins.
