14 day JR Pass or 7 day plus regional or metro passes?

Hello! Thank you so much for this service! My family will be visiting Japan arriving June 8 and departing June 17. We arrive at Haneda on June and will stay in Shinjuku for 4 nights. While there, we will go sightseeing. Then we will go to Kyoto for 2 nights and maybe a day trip to Nara. From there we will go to Osaka for 2 nights and will take a day trip to Himeji Castle. On June 16 we go back to Tokyo from Osaka and then leave from Haneda the next day. So, 10 days total. I am wondering if the 14 day JR pass is better than a 7 day JR pass, plus a 72 hour metro pass, or maybe a Suica card for those sightseeing days so we can use the JR line and not just the subways. What is your advice?

Thank you in advance!

Hello!

Given your itinerary, individual tickets and the Welcome Suica Mobile would be the better option. If you are interested in regional passes, I would recommend the Kansai Area Pass to cover your travel within the Kansai region (Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Himeji).

I hope this helps!

Kind Regards,

Mariko
